Diagnostic Accuracy of Doppler Ultrasonography for the Testicular Torsion in Patients with Acute Scrotum taking Intraoperative Findings as Gold Standard

Objective: To analyze the diagnostic accuracy of Doppler ultrasonography in detecting acute testicular torsion patients presenting with scrotal pain against surgical findings as Gold Standard. Material and methods; Cross-sectional study was conducted at Department surgery Radiology Indus Hospital, Lahore Watim Medical College, Rawalpindi Niazi dental college, Sargodha over 6 months. Total 111 males age 15-45 years having (12-48 hours) diagnosed clinically were enrolled using non-probability-purposive sampling. performed on every patient by single radiologist, TOSHIBA Just Vision USG machine equipped curvilinear probe facilities. Then referred for which one team, per-operative documented. Results: Mean 29 ± 6.52 years. Average duration 18.12 ±5.03, average 7.17 1.50. Forty-three (38.7%) had moderate pain, 68 (61.3%) severe pain. On doppler swelling seen 106(95.5%), decreased echogenicity absent, 100 (90.1%) blood flow. The sensitivity specificity 98.06% 87.5%, respectively taking gold standard. Positive negative predictive value 99.02% 77.78% respectively, 97.3% standard Conclusion: Our finding suggest, this modality can be used to detect scrotum it has reliable (98.06%), (87.5%) well high (97.3%).
